Meghan Quigley Toner’s practice includes IP litigation, patent prosecution, trademark protection and prosecution, and intellectual property counseling to small and midsize companies.  Ms. Toner’s particular emphasis is with complex mechanical, electrical, computer and software inventions.

As an IP litigator in NYC and Chicago, Ms. Toner has had significant experience in patent, copyright, trademark, and trade dress infringement, trademark dilution, and cases involving unfair competition, false and deceptive advertising, misappropriation of trade secrets, and other complex civil litigation. Her experience includes:  representing a major engine manufacturer against claims of patent infringement; representing a pharmaceutical research concern on its patents to polymorphic forms of a pharmaceutical compound and its resulting drug products; representing a major seed company in its claims that genetically engineered corn infringed on an existing patent; representing a small telecommunications start-up against claims of patent infringement on patents related to MEMS technology; representing a major provider of bill validation products in a patent infringement lawsuit; and defending a major inkjet printer maker on claims of trade secret misappropriation and patent ownership and inventorship. 

Prior to returning to the Capital District and joining Hoffman Warnick, Ms. Toner was an associate at Fish & Richardson P.C. in New York City , and prior to that, was an IP litigation associate at Foley & Lardner LLC in Chicago .
