Patent Indices holding steady

ALBANY, NY (October 9, 2007)(8:00)(EST) — Hoffman, Warnick & D'Alessandro LLC (HWD), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the Tech Valley Patent Index for Second Quarter 2007.  The “Patent Indices” include data for: the Capital Region ( Albany , Schenectady , Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley , Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.

With regard to the Third Quarter, “the number of patents issuing to Tech Valley inventors is a quite a bit lower compared to last year at this time, but the Capital Region is up a bit over last quarter," stated Spencer Warnick , partner at Hoffman, Warnick & D’Alessandro. 

The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors.  This quarter, the POQ is awarded to: US Patent No. 7,248,946 issued to Travis Bashaw, David Torrey and Robert Carpenter for “Inverter control methodology for distributed generation sources connected to a utility grid.”  The patent issued July 24, 2007, and is assigned to Advanced Energy Conversion of Ballston Spa.
