Patent Indices holding steady

ALBANY, NY (June 27, 2007)(8:00)(EST) — Hoffman, Warnick & D'Alessandro LLC (HWD), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the Tech Valley Patent Index for Second Quarter 2007.  The “Patent Indices” include data for: the Capital Region ( Albany , Schenectady , Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley , Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.

With regard to the Second Quarter, “the number of patents issuing to Tech Valley inventors is a little lower compared to last year at this time, but we’re up a bit over last quarter in most of the patent indices," stated Spencer Warnick , partner at Hoffman, Warnick & D’Alessandro.

The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors.  This quarter, the POQ is awarded to: US Patent No. 7,219,024 issued to Ronald Gamache, Richard Hosterman and Sarah Pluta for “Material analysis including density and moisture content determinations.”  The patent issued May 15, 2007, and is assigned to TransTech Systems of Schenectady.
