Patent Indices Set Numerous Record Highs

ALBANY, NY (April 6, 2007)(8:00)(EST) — Hoffman, Warnick & D'Alessandro LLC (HWD), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the Tech Valley Patent Index for First Quarter 2007.  The “Patent Indices” include data for: the Capital Region ( Albany , Schenectady , Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley , Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.

With regard to the First Quarter, “we’re still seeing growth for the indices that exclude the larger corporations, which is good news for Tech Valley and the Capital Region in that the diversification of patentees remains strong," stated Spencer Warnick , partner at Hoffman, Warnick & D’Alessandro. 

The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors.  This quarter, the POQ is awarded to: US Patent No. 7,165,054 issued to David Geoghegan for “Custom Electronic Learning System and Method.”  The patent issued January 16, 2007, and is assigned to KnowledgeXtensions of Delmar.
